The hidden world behind our hills … that was the subtext of a talk, focused on the wetland complex that abuts Lake Morey within the Fairlee Town Forest and West Fairlee’s Brushwood Community Forest. Five well-known VT researchers presented “The Great Fairlee Wetlands.” Friends of Fairlee Forests, the event sponsor, identified this area as the largest, most diverse, and most pristine wetland habitat in the Upper CT River Valley. The event, which was free and very well attended, took place on Wed., July 17, at 7 pm at the Lake Morey Resort. Contact email@example.com for more info — we hope to have a dvd of the presentation available to borrow.
The New England Trifest was held in Fairlee (staged at Camp Horizons on Lake Fairlee) on June 29-30. This race weekend featured a duathlon for ages 7-14 on Saturday and half & olympic distance races for triathletes on Sunday. Visit the Sun Multisport Events website (www.sunmultisportevents.com) for more info. Congratulations to the LMPA families and friends who participated!
The LMPA and the VT State Police Marine Division co-sponsored the 3rd annual safe boating and boater certification workshop on June 18 & 20. Twenty participants obtained their VT boating licenses as a result of successfully completing the course. We are committed to continue raising awareness of safe boating practices so all can enjoy lake activities!
